CERTIFIED MOTROPOLIAN!

This article has been deemed Motropolian, which means it's one of the best pages on this wiki, which means that this page includes a lot of information (and also the most accurate information) about the scenario, or that this can sometimes be the first page of an editor, where more time is being dedicated to filling the page with lots of nifty stuff about the scenario.

Motropolia, officially the United Federation of Motropolia, is an alternate future country.

Scenario

A global collapse, dubbed "The Collapse of the Modern World" by many, turns all of the world's countries to dust, leaving room open for the barbaric Dutch to expand further out into Central Europe. They move the former country's capital from Amsterdam to Zürich, and they rename Zürich to Monometropolia in the process. Struggling to come up with a name for a country to combine all this territory in, it became Motropolia after an advisor suggested a shorter name for the capital. A republic with no local autonomy was established on 1/1/2210 AD, and to prove the first country to ever re-appear on the world's existance, they decided to reset the yearly cycle to 1500 and dubbed it as their own. For some reason.

From 2257 to 2261 AD, or 1547 to 1551 AS (after settlement, aka. the new cycle), people in German-speaking and French-speaking provinces of Motropolia demanded local autonomy, but the central government wouldn't allow it. After four years of civil war, the central government agreed to local autonomy, creating the Autonomous States of Francia and Germania within the country. The provinces that stayed loyal to the central government became the Federal Districts. The civil war turned Motropolia into a federation.

While at war with the Ventosuan Republic many times, the nation's influence spread around the globe through colonisation/re-establishment, of which it was somewhat behind Sylt and South Bryten, but just early enough to cash in on some areas. They managed to build a government on the entire Guiana Shield, they regained control over Indonesia, and secured a few spice trade routes with Neo-Shonguo. However, under the Colonial Act of 1901, Motropolia ratified the colonies' full independence, which some members of parliament have been meaning to do for some time. Most mottos and coats of arms of the former colonies have some Motropolian influence as a result.

Today, Motropolia dominates in education, economy, political decisions, free press, freedom of speech and nationalism. It is a bit weaker on military areas, religious unity and linguistic unity: every single province of Motropolia has their own dialects, no one speaks perfect Dutch. This is especially true for those in the Autonomous States. It also has loose ethnic ties and relatively strong economic ties with the Zentrummann Dynasty and the Kingdom of Sylt.
